We are a women's social club that like to get together and have fun, try new things, encourage others, while helping our furry friends. We come from different backgrounds and cultures and a wide range of ages, but we all have something in common, we love animals and having a good time!
The Scarf Club was officially born in 2014, but actually the seeds were planted and growing for many years at Toniann's "ScrapShack". For 15 years, the ScrapShack was the place where fabulous women came together to "Scrapbook", but really it was the camaraderie of friendship and sisterhood that everyone loved the most. Lots of laughter and sometimes crying as we talked and talked about everything you can think about. Learning of different cultures, latest TV shows and movies, best places to travel, good books to read, and our personal losses and successes. When Toniann retired, there was a big gap missing from our lives. After looking into many other organizations and volunteering work and social and fun events, it was decided we need to create our own club that focused on women having fun while being open minded, and learning and growing as individuals while helping those that can't help themselves. Well, one thing lead to another, and the SCARF Club was born!
Our founder is Toniann Giacalone. Toniann founded the SCARF Club as a way to give something back, not only to the community she loves, but also to enrich the lives of others. As an accomplished professional in her own consulting organization, Toniann found herself donating her time and a percentage of her profits to several groups. In discussing this with her peers and friends, she found that they were looking for opportunities to do similarly good work, but also wanted to spend time with other women with the same goals. The SCARF Club was born from these conversations and has sought to improve the community of San Diego ever since.
